John Edward Yate, 86, died in Los Angeles Wednesday, April 1. He was the father of Russell Yates, city secretary.
Mr. Yates lived in Collingsworth County from 1914 until 1940 when he moved to Los Angeles. He farmed for a number of years in the Lutie community and he was also a retired carpenter.
Born in Red River County February 14, 1884, he was the son of John E. and Mollie Thompson Yates He was a Methodist.
Survivors are his son, Russell Yates and a daughter, Mrs. Albert Sass of Clovis, NM.
