On 9/2/1862 he mustered into "D" Co. IL 75th Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 6/12/1865 at Nashville, TN

In Army of Cumberland-8 day fight with Bragg which ended at Perryville, Kentucky. Was in battle of Lancaster, Kentucky, Stone River. At Chattanooga became ill and was sent to Hospital at Nashville, Never recovered enough to get into ranks but was on patrol duty.

While at the front he was attacked by a disease of the hip joint and was sent to the rear. After being treated in the hospital for a time he did guard duty but was permanently disabled by his military experiences.
