On November 2, 1941, Irene married Francis Hubert Baker. The wedding took place in Clinton County, Missouri.
Francis served in the United States Army during WWII. He was stationed overseas for 37 months as an airplane mechanic. He returned home in about 1945.
While her husband served his country, Irene moved back to her parents' home in Mattoon, where she operated a beauty shop in her parents' front bedroom.
The couple had two children, Donald Francis, born in 1942 and Alice Louise, born in 1947. Both of the children were born in Mattoon, Illinois.
In 1959, Francis got a job with Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado. The family lived there until 1969, when Irene and Francis moved to Arlington, Texas for Francis's new job.
Her husband passed away on July 27, 2006. Just a month and a half later, on September 2, 2006, Irene died. She was living in Arlington, Texas at the time.
