Paul M. Rachal Dies at 60 Paul M. Rachal, 60, Oak Crest Mobile Home Park, died at 12:35 p.m. yesterday at the Audrain Medical Center where he had been a patient about a week. Mr. Rachal had been ill for some time. An inspector for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co., Mr. Rachal had lived in Mexico about three years. He was born in Arcadia, La., Feb. 20,1910, a son of Paul and Gertrude Berlin Rachal. He married the former Virginia Shoulders on June 27, 1947, in Shreveport, La., who survives at the home. Also surviving are five sons, Paul Jr., Jack, Furman, Glenn and Theda, all of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Nemnich, also of Shreveport; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Arnold Funeral Home and burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. The body will lie in state after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
From what Janet has found, we think that Theda was a girl, as she found a yearbook photo and she thinks that is a mistake in the obit. So far from the info we have found so far, it looks like the children may all be from a previous marriage. We will keep searching.
Note: I did a Google search and got lucky and talked to Paul Jr. a while ago and confirmed that all 5 children are alive and well and Theda is indeed his sister. Their mother's name is Ruby (Hebert) Rachal and she died in 1998 and is buried in Shreveport, LA. next to her father, Dupree Leon Hebert. Paul Jr. was born in 1930, Furman abt.1932, Jack abt.1934, Glenn abt,1937, and Theda abt.1944. He said his parent separated in 1945 and were divorced later and his mother never re-married and all the children remained in Louisiana while their father went north and married Virginia. He said that he thought the Virginia had a daughter by Mr. Cannon, but that he never met her.
Note: All this was made possible by Ken Ray getting the ball rolling by listing Paul and Virginia. Thanks Again, Ken.
