Thomas Jerrold Hays (TJ) – beloved Brother, Husband, Daddy, Gramps, and Friend – passed away peacefully at age of 89 on December 25, 2015 in Alamogordo, NM. He is survived by his wife Wilma, his eight children (and their spouses): Carlene Patterson (Gary Allen), Johnny Hays, Terry (Menchie) Hays, Elizabeth (David) McDowell, Bobby (Sylvia) Hays, Linda Holmes, Marvin (Mailynn) Hays, Marie (Jim) Gilbert, his sister Laverne (Johnny) Holmes, his brothers Sam (Nellie deceased) Hays and Don (Nancy) Hays, 27 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruby Hays, father Lee Hays, mother Lillian Hays, and brother Lee Roy Hays.
TJ, also known as “Gabby,” was born in Clay County, Texas on November 14, 1926. He lived there until 1945 then served two years in the army. He moved to the Deming, New Mexico area where he lived for 65 years. He spent the last 4 years of his life in Alamogordo.
Services will be held at the Church of Christ on the corner of Copper and Elm (201 West Elm,) Deming, New Mexico on Thursday, December 31st at 10:00 AM.
