Died at his father's home in Boone township, on March 15, 1898, John Franklin Swallow.

He was born June 10, 1875, and at time of death was aged 22 years, 10 months and 5 days. He was one of a family of ten children, four of whom have gone before him. He left a mother, father, three brothers and two sisters to mourn his departure. Frank was a good moral character and loved by all who knew him. He had a cheerful disposition and a kind word for all. Frank enjoyed good health and had bright prospects of a long and useful life until nine months ago, when his health began to fail. He bore his sufferings patiently and always felt hopeful that he would get well. Everything was done for him that loving hands and hearts could do to bring back his health, but no early power could stay the hand of the destroyer. The silver cord was broken and his spirit took its flight to God who gave it.
