Mr. Clonts was born in Attalla, AL. to the late John Bryant Clonts and the late Ada Frances Hulsey Clonts. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Copeland Clonts, by a grandson, Mark Clonts, by 2 sisters, Lillie Mae Butler and Della Ruth Lyons, and by 4 brothers, Ernest, Johnny, Louis, and Lloyd Clonts. Mr. Clonts was employed for a while at the Lindale Mill, but was also a self-employed contractor, carpenter, and painter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 5 until 7 pm. Following the visitation, Mr. Clonts will be cremated in accordance with his wishes.
