PHOENIX MAN KILLED IN JUMP FROM AUTO
PRESCOTT—Ben Heyne, 31, of Phoenix, died here two hours after he had leaped from an automobile three miles south of Mayer in an attempt to escape injury when the machine’s steering mechanism failed. The accident occurred at what is known as Hackberry wash on the Black canyon highway.
Harry Ketcham, also of Phoenix, with whom Heyne was traveling, remained in the car and emerged uninjured from the wreckage after it had overturned three times and had plunged down a 50-foot embankment.
Heyne’s fatal injuries were received when his head struck a boulder on the roadside.
