Elizabeth Jane Welty was born 1 August 1841 in Ohio to John and Anna (Clark) Welty. Her mother died circa 1856 near Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio. Unsure of the family's movements from the time of Elizabeth's birth until her marriage to Henry Harrison Coonrod, Sr. on 24 September 1860 in Detroit, Pike Co., Illinois. In August of 1862, her husband, Henry would enlist in the 99th Illinois Infantry Company I. From the time of her marriage until her death, she would live mostly in Detroit, Pike Co., Illinois except for some time in Union, Rice Co., Kansas To Henry and his wife, Elizabeth, were born five children: John William, Ida Ann, Mary Jane, Henry Harrison Jr., and Sarah Elizabeth. She died 28 May 1894 in Detroit, Pike Co., Illinois. She was buried 29 May 1894 in Blue River Cemetery, Detroit, Pike Co., Illinois.
