He died (at 3rd Division, 5th Corps Hospital) on 14 Jul 1863 at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania, of wounds. He was 40 years, 5 months and 14 days old.
On 9 Aug 1863 A. Hennington made application for a pension as guardian to George's surviving dependants, and received certificate number 137751.
