Maxine spent her life tending to her home and family. She was an excellent baker and made thousands of birthday and wedding cakes. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and upholstery and used these talents in caring for her family. Family time, especially time with her grandchildren, was always important to Maxine. She worked as a Psychiatric Aide at Fulton State Hospital until her retirement after 23 years of service. She was an active member of Reform Baptist Church and considered her church family to be some of her dearest friends.
A great loss will be felt by her family and friends, including sons, Don Thomas (Sherry) of Stoutsville, Mo., Ronnie Thomas (Zen) of Fulton, and Tommy Thomas (Brenda Stone) of Mokane; daughters, Janet Shackelford (Lloyd) of Thompson, Mo., Judy Jansen (Danny) of Tebbetts, and Jenny Albert (Kenny) of Fulton; Robbie Taylor, of New Bloomfield; sisters, Betty Ferrier (John) of Mexico; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents, and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her son, John M. Thomas; great-grandson, Colt Weslee Thomas; and sister, Pearl Hays (Lyndell).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 1, 2016 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Rick Conley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mokane Cemetery.
