Mildred M Dunlap was the daughter of Samuel Madison Dunlap and Susan Mildred McCorkle. She married Wilson Park Coe between 1935 and 1940. Daughter Susan was named for her mother.

On the 1910 Lexington, VA census, I found hardware retail merchant Samuel M Dunlap, 31; wife Susan M, 29; daughter MILDRED M, 1 9/12; son Samuel M, Jr., 6/12 and brother in law, Samuel W McCorkle, 21, all VA born. They lived at 6 Edmondson Ave.

On the 1920 Lexington, VA census, I found hardware merchant Samuel M Dunlap, 41; wife Susan M, 39; daughter/sons: MILDRED McC, 11; Samuel M, Jr., 9 and James McK, 4 3/12, all VA born. They lived at 97 S. Main Street.

On the 1930 Lexington, VA census, I found hardware store salesman Samuel M Dunlap, 52; wife Susan M, 44; daughter/sons: MILDRED M, 20; Samuel M, 18 and James Mc, 14, all VA born.

In 1930, future husband, a single Wilson P Coe, resided with his family in Lexington.

On the 1940 Natural Bridge, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found Wilson P Coe, 44; wife MILDRED Coe, 30; daughter Susan M Coe, 1 and servant Virginia Hastetter, 21, all VA born. In 1935, he lived in Rockbridge Co and she lived in Richmond. They lived on Fancy Hill. (Ancestry lists them as Cos instead, not Coe.)

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Susan Coe Tucker, Lexington; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday by Dr. L. Randolph Harrison at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.... Her obit was in the 11 Jan 1991 issue of the Roanoke Times, p B2.

A photo posted on the Washington & Lee University site for this cemetery, was added herein on 17 Sep 2017. It is not legible and is unusual for such a new marker to be covered in black already.

According to Nanalou Sauder, in a 1994 article titled Madison Dunlap, David Lowman and Miller's Mill, "In an interview with Mildred Coe, who was a Dunlap relation and visited the Dunlap house as a child, I learned some interesting things. She remembered that there was a large brick-drying yard outside the kitchen and, behind that, a three-seat, one-door outhouse made of brick. There were other buildings that included an icehouse about halfway down the hill to the west (long since gone, although the bricks were saved); a log smokehouse, still there but going downhill rapidly; and a log barn by the spring branch, which is still in use but does not belong to us. Others remember the house in the 1930s, including, of course, Lois and Halstead Dunlap and Dot Newman, who remembers going to parties when the dining room was used for dancing." It was presented to the Ignorance Club, in October 1994. Mrs. Sauder was a local school teacher and lived in Madison's home from 1965 to 2010.
