Civil War Veteran. Served with the 5th Battery, Indiana Light Artillery. Some of the battles the 5th particpated in were: Stone's River, Chicamauga, Atlanta & Resaca.

Branda Rogers learned from census recorda that on January 4, 1866, Pettit married Callie Gilbert in Bakersfield CA. They had a daughter named Laura Pettit Redstone. He died sometime after the 1920 census was taken,
