CONNEAUT — Russell E. Braden, age 88, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Lake Pointe Rehab and Nursing Center in Conneaut, Ohio.
He was born May 10, 1927, in Conneaut, to Clarence and Lena (Whiting) Braden. Russell spent his early life in Monroe Township, Ohio. He married the love of his life Arlene I. Schlaich on Jan. 27, 1945, and entered the U.S. Army in August, 1945 to serve his country during World War II.
He was a self-employed home-builder known as “Braden Builders”. He was Methodist by faith and had attended Monroe and Gageville United Methodist Churches. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, bowling, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Darlene Barbula of Sheridan, Wyo., Gayle (John) Kern of Lovell, Wyo., Dennis Braden of North Richmond, Ohio and Greg (Mary Jo) Braden of Conneaut, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Darlene Braden of Ashtabula, Ohio; siblings, Bob (Barb) Braden of Monroe Township, Ohio, and Goldie (Richard) Renn of Conneaut, Ohio; sister-in-law, Marge Tuttle of Ishpeming, Mich.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene in 2009; son, Larry Braden; daughter, Barbara Ann in infancy; two grandsons, Craig and Gary; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica; and his siblings, Ernie Braden, Leroy Braden, Clair Braden, and Mildred Adams.
Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Jan Walsh, of New Leaf United Methodist Church, officiating. American Legion Cowle Post #151 will provide Military Honors. Following cremation, inurnment will be in Kelloggsville Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be at the Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and also on Tuesday from Noon until the time of Service at 1 p.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Lake Pointe and to Hospice of the Western Reserve for their kindness and care during Russell’s illness.

CONNEAUT — Russell E. Braden, age 88, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Lake Pointe Rehab and Nursing Center in Conneaut, Ohio.
He was born May 10, 1927, in Conneaut, to Clarence and Lena (Whiting) Braden. Russell spent his early life in Monroe Township, Ohio. He married the love of his life Arlene I. Schlaich on Jan. 27, 1945, and entered the U.S. Army in August, 1945 to serve his country during World War II.
