W.C. "Dub" Adams, 89, of Arlington passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015.
Pallbearers: Blake Adams, Bryce Adams, Gary Adams, Wes Agler, Roger Bruce and James Wagoner.
Dub was born Feb. 5, 1926, to Emory B. Adams and Beulah Newton Adams in McGirk. He attended and graduated from school in Star. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 when he was 18 years old and served two full years as a gunner's mate third class, earning the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal (with two stars). After his service, Dub met the love of his life, Felice Nesbitt Adams, in Abilene while attending Abilene Christian College. They were married in Colorado City on Jan. 21, 1950. He worked in Sweetwater for Mrs Baird's before beginning a career with Texas Electric Service Co. where he worked for over 35 years. He and Felice moved to Arlington in 1966 and remained there after he retired from TU Electric. Dub was a lifetime member of the Optimist International Club and volunteered selflessly and dedicated over 20 years to the annual Arlington Classic High School Basketball Tournament. He also coached Little League baseball for many years in Sweetwater with his good friend, Daylon Bruce. He was easily recognizable with his big smile, booming voice, big tall cowboy hat and boots. He made friends easily and was a good friend and mentor to many and loved to sing. He was a member of Park Row Church of Christ for over 40 years. In their spare time, Dub and Felice loved working in their beautiful yard, birding, fishing, traveling to historical Texas sites and were avid Texas Rangers baseball fans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Felice; and brother, Glen Adams.
Survivors: His sister and brother-in-law, Laveta and Roland Poe of Hamilton; his brother and sister-in-law, Ira and Lauretta Adams of Evant; his sister-in-law, Wanda Adams of Colleyville; his nieces and nephews, Felecia Adams Rankin, Blake and Vicki Adams, Deborah Poe, Danny Poe, Teresa and Wes Agler, Larry and Janet Adams, Gary Adams and Amy Ellison; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
