Rose was born around 1882. In the 1900 Federal census for Glenrock, she's listed as married, but living with her widowed mother and four of her siblings. The 1900 census lists her birth date as November of 1882. It says that Rose had been married for a year. In the 1880 Federal census, Rose's parents were farming in the Marshall area of Clay Co., Nebraska. By looking at the data on the 1900 census, it appears that Rose's parents moved to Glenrock sometime between about 1888 when her sister Daisy was born and about 1894 when her sister Maggie was born. In the 1900 census, Rose's brother David J. Masterson was 20 and working as a day laborer. He appears to have been the infant being called Harvey in the 1880 census because both census records list his birth date as February of 1880. Moving forward to the 1910 Federal census for Glenrock, Rose was living with her husband William Skinner, who was working as a coal miner, and children Richard and Minnie, who the 1910 census says were the two living children of four born to this family.
