Bill was listed as an actor in movies in the 1920s, a longshoreman on the docks in San Pedro in the 1930s, and a stevedore (loads and unloads cargo) in the shipping industry in the 1940s. He was also a minister and led part of the chorus groups.
He married Mary Evelyn "Evelyn" Boaz in 1926 in Los Angeles. They had no children. Research leads to the belief that he and Evelyn were separated, however the family did not discuss it.

His obituary appears in the San Francisco Examiner on Thursday, Sept. 10, 1964. It mentions his estranged wife, Evelyn; his siblings: Porter C., and Oliver Blackburn, Mae White, and Ethel Hazen.
