South Washington Street Woman Succumbs During Trip to Kingston
Mrs. Mae Karnofsky, 48, of 148 South Washington Street died of a heart attack last night at 7 at the home of her niece, Mrs. Saul Troy, 660 Gibson Avenue, Kingston, where she had been visiting. She was the wife of Joseph Karnofsky, who is affiliated with Karnofsky's Produce Company, South Pennsylvania. Avenue.
Deceased was born in Pittston, daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Freed. Following her marriage 25 years ago she moved to Wilkes-Barre.
She conducted May's Knitting shop until five years ago when illness caused her to retire.
She is also survived by two children, Jacob, New York; Jean Ruth, at home; sisters, Miss Elizabeth Freed, Mrs. Gussie Verblud, New York; Mrs. Jacob Shulman, West Pittston; Mrs. Clement Karnofsky, Wilkes-Barre; brothers Ben Freed, Passaic; Dr. Louis Freed, Allentown.
