William Cole Abel, 74, Kansas City in Platte County, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born in Troy, Kan., and had lived in this area since 1951. Mr. Abel worked for the Phillips Petroleum Co. before he retired in 1966. He was a member of the Park Hill Christian Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lena M. Abel of the home; a son, William B. Abel, Overland Park; a daughter, Mrs. Colleen Davis, Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. Mernie Caine, Ringgold, Ga., and Mrs. Lela Hillegas, Troy; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church; burial in East Slope Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Francis Chapel, Parkville. The family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association.
