Kathryn Rosencranz, 104, of Northampton, died on Thursday, December 10 at Phoebe Home in Allentown. She was the wife of Marcus Rosencranz, who died in 1957. Born in Kreidersville in 1911, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. Beil and Jennie Bartholomew Beil. She was a homemaker throughout her marriage and was known as an expert seamstress. After her husband's death, she worked at Hess Brothers Department Store in the Alterations Department. Later, until her retirement, she worked as a Matron at the Nazareth Bible Fellowship Nursing Home for nine years. She was very active in the Girl Scouts of America and was instrumental in organizing the Blue Bell Troop and, also, a Brownie Troop at Grace United Church of Christ in Northampton during the 1940's. For at least ten years, she served as Leader for the Blue Bell Girl Scout Troop. For many years, she worked cooperatively with the Lehigh Council of Girl Scouts, serving as Northampton's Lone Troop Consultant. During the 1950's, she was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was an active member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church in Allentown and was active in the church's Quilting Society. In earlier years, she had been a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Northampton and had been a Sunday School teacher and member of the Ladies' Quilting Group. Survivors: She is survived by a daughter, Doris R. and her husband Dr. H. Lowen Marshall, of West Boothbay Harbor, ME; a niece Sadie Chabak of Northampton, with whom she resided from 1997 until the summer of 2013; a grand-niece, Jean Faust (wife of Elmer Faust), of Northampton, who was especially close to her and monitored her care during her latter years in Northampton; another niece Pauline Beil Cordes (wife of the Rev. William Cordes) of Chattanooga, TN; and other grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a step-daughter, Stella Rosencranz, and a step-son, Marcus Rosencranz; two sisters Edith Beil and Hilda Frack; and a brother, Oliver Beil. Services: Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00am in the Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA 18067 with Pastor Ron Erb officiating. A calling hour from 10-11am will precede the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the
Allen Union Cemetery in Northampton.
