Stella was the daughter of John Leonard Cheek and Sarah Francis "Fannie" Mitchell. She married Cecil Hunsucker and they had one child Gragrie M. Hunsucker. She then married Earl Swiney and they had four children: Theda Swiney, Dow Swiney, LeRoy Swiney, and Dale Aldridge Swiney.

Death Comes To Mrs. E. Swiney Here Monday

Mrs. Stella Jane Swiney passed away Monday in Reedley Hospital, having failed to rally from an operation. Her funeral was Wednesday afternoon at the Cairns Funeral Home, with Rev. E. A. Munroe of the Baptist church officiating. Interment in Mendocino Cemetery, Parlier, followed. She was the wife of Earl Swiney of this city.

Mrs. Swiney had resided for seven years in the Reedley and Parlier district, coming here from Arkansas, the state in which she was born. She was forty years of age.

In Arkansas she had been a member for a number of years of the Missionary Baptist church but here attended the First Baptist church.

In addition to her husband the following children are left to mourn her death: Mrs. G. Hunsaker, Theda Swiney, Dow Swiney of the U. S. Army, LeRoy Swiney of Reedley; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cheek of Arkansas, a brother, O. F. Cheek of Parlier, as well as several brothers and sisters in Arkansas.
