COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Rev. Alvin D. Bozard, 89, of Columbia, SC will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Rev. Cliff Satterwhite and Mr. Barry Edwards will officiate. Emtombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born in St. Matthews, SC, he was a son of the late John Emmett Bozard and Felicia Austin Bozard. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army. He was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.

Throughout SC, he was the interim pastor at many churches. Alvin was also a guidance counselor and social studies teacher. He and his wife, Rose, had several foster sons that he treated as his own.

Surviving are his daughter, Donna Rose Cox (William) of Columbia; grandchildren, Celeste Back (Allen) of New York City, Brittany Buchanan (Eric) of Lexington, SC; and sister, Clara B. McCullough (Elmer) of Cayce, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Bozard, who died in 2009; three sisters, Atheleta, Myrtis, and Thelma; seven brothers, Harvey, Durwood, Cloyce, Clifford, Leroy, Hoyt, and Beverly.
