Mattie (Alley) Johnson was born in 1878 in Tennessee, the daughter of David Alley and Mary (Nolen) Allen.
She was married about 1898 as the 1st wife of Robert Lee "Bobbalee" Johnson (1872-1952), the son of Cyrus Franklin Johnson (ca 1846–1911) and Nancy Emma (Wallace) Johnson (1850–1917).
Living at 1726 7th Avenue North, Nashville, she was 51 years old and married when she had an "enterostomy" at Nashville General Hospital on February 9, 1930 to remove a tumor that was obstructing her intestine: She died four days later and was buried on February 15th in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville. {It is noted that her cemetery marker has her year of death as 1933.}
