Robert Lee "Bobbalee" Johnson Sr was born on September 7, 1872 in Trigg County, Kentucky, the son of Cyrus Franklin Johnson (ca 1846–1911) and Nancy Emma (Wallace) Johnson (1850–1917).
He was married 1st about 1898 to Mattie Alley (1878–1930), the daughter of David Alley and Mary (Nolen) Alley. Later in life he was married a 2nd time.
A retired farmer living in Pegram Station, Cheatham County, Tennessee, he was 80 years old and a widower when he died of a hemorrhage at Nashville's Vanderbilt University Hospital on October 23, 1952. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
