TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA | Kuang-Hwei Lee-Smeltzer, age 59, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away 28 Nov 2015 at home. Burial will be in Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California. Magnolia Funeral Home North is handling local arrangements.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Yeh-Yi Liu and father, Bing-San Lee.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas C Wilson, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and her sister, Kuang-Yir Derico of Cortland, Ohio.

Kuang-Hwei was a loving daughter, sister and spouse. She was a dedicated librarian, talented potter and friend and mentor to many.

Kuang-Hwei graduated with her undergraduate degree from Fu Jen Catholic School in Taipei, Taiwan and her graduate degrees from Southern Illinois in Carbondale, Illinois and the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign in Champaign, Illinois.

She completed library work at Southern Illinois University, Oregon State University, University of Houston, Colorado State University, Questia, Harris County Public Library System, University of Maryland, Boston County and the University of Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials be made to Colon Cancer Alliance, Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research, or St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
