Rose Gillespie Birdsong, age 85, was born on August 13, 1930 to Alfred Harvey and Ollie Alberta Smith Gillespie in Natchez, MS and passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Haynesville, LA.
She was a lifelong resident of this area, a graduate of the Cotton Valley High School, class of 1947; a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Wayne Birdsong and wife, Patty of Minden, LA, Bruce Birdsong and wife, Pam of Haynesville, LA; six grandchildren, Jeremy Birdsong and wife, Wenny, Sandra Killian and husband, David, Lee Birdsong, Kristy Johnson and husband, Brent, Jason Birdsong and wife, Anita, Patrick Birdsong; great-grandchildren, Haley, Machaela, Nathan, Maddox, Nacoma, Valeska, Ariel, Tyler, Chloe and Alex; nephew, Mark Gillespie and wife, Donna; great-niece, Holly and great-nephew, Ross.
Mrs. Birdsong was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Wilton Birdsong, on January 14, 2009; son, Joel Birdsong; her parents, and a grandson, Thomas Cory Birdsong.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Old Town Cemetery with Rev. Kathy Wafer, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, Minden, LA officiating.
