Services for Benita M. Becker, 76, formerly of Jackson Summit, were held May 2 at Vickery Funeral Home with Rev. David Weidman officiating. Burial was in Windfall Cemetery. Mrs. Becker died April 29, 1984 at Heritage Nursing Home, Athens. She was born Dec. 17, 1907 in Granville Summit, daughter of Mark and Bessie Kittle Merritt. She was a retired employee from GTE, Towanda. Surviving are sons, Richard of Pine City, NY and Merritt (Bud) of Millerton; sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Slingerland of Troy, Mrs. Leo (Ruth) Boney of Sayre, Mrs. Gerald (Dorna) Patterson of Butler, PA. and Mrs. Loren (Ellen) Judson of Columbia Cross Roads; brothers, James Merrit Sr. of Troy, Merle Merrit of Athens, Rex Merrit of Orange City, Fl. And Edward Merrit of Horseheads, NY; sister-in-law, Janice Merrit of Granville Summit; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
