The Daily Republican—Register, June 1O, 1912, p. 3

Veteran Striken This Morning and Soon Succumbed to Hemorrhages.

Friends of Isom Reed will be grieved to learn of his death his forenoon. Mr. Reed up to the time of his sickness was spending his time about the house, when early this morning he was attacked by five hemorrhages of the stomach. The fifth attack left him unconscious. At his bedside were his two grandchildren Del and Mary, his son George Reed and wife of this city, and his wife Elizabeth Hull Reed.

Mr. Reed was born at Farmington, Illinois, in 1843, where he resided and attended school until he joined the Union army during the civil war. He was a member of the seventh Illinois cavalry, and at the time of his death was a member of the local post of the G.A.R.

After the war he was united in wedlock with Miss Elizabeth Hull of Farmington. He then moved to Douglass where he resided until 1892 when he moved to this city and entered the employ of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy. He has been in the service of the company for the past nineteen years, and has always been esteemed as a good and faithful worker.

Mr. Reed is survived by his wife and two sons of this city, George and Dilman Reed. There are three (sic) grandchildren to mourn his death, Miss Mary Reed and Master Dilman Reed of this city.
