JEFFERSONVILLE – Tinie Johnson Newby 85, of Hamlin-Floyd Rd., passed away Saturday in Dublin.
Services will be held Tuesday December 8, 2015 at 2:00PM in Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Lee Cemetery. Elder Franklin Bryant and Rev. Dwayne Bedingfield will officiate.
Mrs. Newby was born in Sparta, GA the daughter of the late Arthur and Edna Carr Johnson. She was the widow of the late Jerome L. Newby, Jr. and was preceded in death by her Son Jerry Newby and several Brothers and Sisters. Mrs. Newby was a 1947 graduate of Sparta High School. She started working as an operator with Southern Bell in Atlanta in 1951 and worked in offices in Warner Robins and Macon as a Service Representative. She retired after 35 years of service in 1986. Miss Tinie was a Life Time Member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers, and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, John A. (Sybil) Newby, Jane Newby, and Jesse (Barbara Stone) Newby. Grandchildren, Chasity Leigh (Jay) May, Nathan John (Stephanie) Newby, Jessica Mindy (Michael Peters) Fountain, Jared Jerry Heath (Nicki Leguin) Newby, Kevin Ivey (Jalyn Wilkerson) Newby. Great Grandchildren, Tyler Caine (Chanlee Smith) May, Mason J. Newby, Peyton L. Newby, Addison Cole Newby, and Carly Raine Newby. One Great Great Grandchild, Colton Wyatt May. Brother, Wilber Johnson. Sisters, Linda J. Floyd, Carolyn Ann J. Johns, and Brenda McCannon. Several Nieces and Nephews.
