Gladys Velma (Sims) Martin age 102 passed away at home Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2015. She was born in Bledsoe County on January 9, 1913 to the late Andrew Jackson Sims and Martha Trennie (Everett) Sims. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Albert Warner Martin, her sister, Lilly Mae Elsea and six brothers, Foster Sims, Owen Sims, Howard Sims, Carl “Whitey” Sims, Marvin “Bo” Sims and Taylor Sims and her son-in-law Cecil Webb.
Gladys lived most of her life in Graysville where she was a homemaker and a member of the Graysville First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Pansy Faye Webb, her son, Odis “Jack” (Margie) Martin, two sisters, Nellie Rose and Meda (Allen) Langston all of Graysville, four grandchildren, Lynna (David) Cornwell, Robert (Debbie) Martin, Nancy (David) White and Nora (David) Griswold, seven great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Pleasantview Cemetery in Graysville.
