Mrs. Ernestine Quick Mahan age 87 of Gassville passed away November 28, 2015 in Mountain Home, AR of natural causes after a long illness. She was born July 25, 1928 in Dugginsville, MO to Ben and Lena Deatherage Quick.

She attended Ozark County schools and graduated from Gainesville High School when she was 16. She then attended SMS University and Drury College and obtained a Teaching Certificate and taught in the one room, “New Hope School” in Ozark CO.

She married George Wilburn Mahan on November 19, 1949 in Mtn. Home, AR.
She gave birth to daughter Charlene Mahan Wilber Schlotzhauer August 6, 1950 in Gainesville, MO. She later gave birth to son Ricky Lee Mahan July 16, 1953 in Mtn. Home, AR

She lived in Ozark County MO until late 1953 when she & Wilburn moved to Kansas City, MO
Ernestine was then a homemaker & Wilburn worked for Westinghouse
Westinghouse went on strike and closed the plant; they moved the family to Mtn. Home, AR.
Ernestine worked at Connie’s Café, Quality Market & Piggly Wiggly. She then worked at Baxter Lab in the Label Dept. Ernestine then found her passion with Home Interiors & Gifts winning numerous awards for her sales and decorating techniques. After retiring she and Wilburn enjoyed antique & junk auctions, buying, repairing and selling from their home.

The most important priority was her faith and her family. Charlene & Ricky gave her 4 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. In addition 3 step-granddaughters and 6 step-great grandchildren.

Ernestine was the oldest of 10 children and cared for the younger brothers and sisters as if they were her own. Her nieces & nephews plus all of the greats were always a part of her life and close to her heart!

Survivors are daughter, Charlene Wilber Schlotzhauer and husband Ronald of Gainesville, MO and son Rick Mahan and wife Letha of Mtn. Home; grandchildren, Todd Wilber & wife Debbie of Warrenton, VA, Jennifer Wilber Simpson of Ashland, OR, Brook Mahan & wife Keri of Mtn Home, AR, Benji Mahan & wife Kelly of Fayetteville, AR; step granddaughters, Shelly & husband Troy McMasters of Topeka, KS, Beth & husband Wayne McCoach of Lenexa, KS
Susan and husband Eric Rahe of Olathe, KS; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Wilber, Austin, Addison, Katelyn & Kamryn Mahan, Nicholas, Jonah & Olivia Simpson and Matthew, Karly, Kourtney & Kenna Mahan; step great-grandchildren Sean & wife Becca Krunkton & Chris Krunkton, Trent & Courtney McMaster, Tyler & Quintin McCoach & Avery & Hannah Rahe;

Home and Joe Mahan of Kansas City, MO ; 9 nieces and 10 nephews; 12 great nieces and 16 great nephews; 7 great great nieces & 5 great great nephews; special friend and caregiver, Debbie Edward and Little Jax. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilburn Mahan,;her parents, Ben & Lena Deatherage Quick; sister Reba Smith & brother Bruce Quick; brothers in law, Arville Mooney, Robert Morrow & Gene Smith; great nephew, Nicholas Fore, mother and father in law, Floyd & Flora Mahan & sisters in law, Wilma Stiers & Mary Ellen Sligh.

Visitation will be Sunday December 6 from 2:00 – 4:00 at Roller Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be on Monday at 1:00 PM at Roller Funeral Home in Mtn. Home. Burial will follow in the Kirby Tucker Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice House of the Ozarks, North Arkansas Food Bank, United States Navy PT Boat Museum or floral from your hometown florist.
