Mrs. Kate Sue Mayberry, wife of Rev. Dr. W. G. Mayberry departed this life Thursday, November 26, 2015 to become an "Eternal Citizen" in the Heavenly Abode.
She was born to Johnny Lee and Gertrude Huggins in Bradenton, Florida.
She graduated from Manatee High School class of 1970 with honors. She received her B.S. Degree in Nursing from Florida A.M. University and her Master Degree in Nursing from the University of Florida. She also attended Baptist College of Florida there receiving a B.A. in Elementary Christian Education and she was a graduate of St. Petersburg College of Funeral Service.
Her employment career commenced with Manatee County School Board, Senior Citizens Coordinator for Manatee County, first African American Patient Care Coordinator in Nursing at Alachua General Hospital, Managed the Psychiatric and Orthopedic and 3rd Grade Teacher at Lake Forest School.
She was a member of the Ministers and Wifes Organization which she served as president, a member of The Historic Camelliaetees Club of Gainesville, Inc., served as assistant Dean of the Jerusalem Association and Teacher for Florida Baptist Convention. She served along with her husband as Christian Education Director, Church School Teacher, Coordinator for the Blind Ministry and Intercessory Prayer Coordinator.
Kate was a devoted wife, loving mother and special grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 19 years Dr. Rev. W.G. Mayberry, sons Danny Harris, Traia Mayberry daughter, Niki Richardson (Al); Kanetra Mayberry, Nakecyia Choates (Kirby), adopted children, Dr. Tarsha Stanley, Phillis Mitchel, Jeanae Phillips, her grandchildren; her sisters, brother, In Laws, nieces, nephews, extended loving family and friends.
The visitation of family and friends will be Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 6:00pm at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 6:00pm at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, 701 S.E. 43rd Street, Gainesville, Florida 32641, Rev. Dr. Karl Smith officiating and Saturday, December 5, 2015 1:00pm at Community Outreach Word of Deliverance, 605 27th Street East, Bradenton, Florida.
