PEKIN ~ James Richard Branstetter, 66, of 927 Hamilton Street, passed away at 8:18 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Sunset Manor in Canton.

Born April 13, 1940 in Louisiana, Missouri to Clarence and Bessie Elizabeth (Worsham) Branstetter, he married Phyllis Camella LoMedico on December 26, 1975 in Carbondale. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Carolanne (Vernon) Jennings of Bowling Green, Missouri; three sons, James (Cathy) Branstetter and Michael C. Branstetter, both of Topeka, Kansas, and Jeffery R. Branstetter of Peoria; ten grandchildren; one brother, John L. (Peggy) Branstetter of Louisiana, Missouri; and four sisters, Sue Liggett of Griggsville, Jane Nugent of Saint Louis, Missouri, Margaret Tarrants of Waterloo, Iowa, and Kay (Dennis) Lovelace of Elsberry, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters (Rachel McCormick, Sarah Branstetter, and Betty Branstetter.

Jim worked in management at the Eagle Food Center in Pekin and later for eleven years at Ben Schwartz IGA in Peoria Heights, working until its closing.

He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church in Pekin, and its cleaning committee. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin.

An avid golfer, Jim formerly golfed in the Tremont league at Parkview Golf Course in Pekin. He also was a strong supporter of the Tazewell Animal Protective Society in Pekin.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Walter Greenleaf will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and also 30 minutes before the funeral on Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to a fund to purchase a stereo system in Jim's memory for the Alzheimer Wing's sun porch at Sunset Manor in Canton.
