Daniel E. Deaton
July 28, 1930 - November 21, 2015

Daniel E. Deaton formerly of Lake Kiowa, Texas and Red Jacket, WV passed to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the Centre Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tallahassee, Florida.

He had his family with him throughout his last days. He was born in Williamson, WV on July 28, 1930 to the late William Edward and Anna Mounts Deaton. After graduating from Magnolia HS, Dan graduated from Marshall University and then entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

While stationed in Texarkana, Texas he met the love of his life Joan Stepp. They were married in Texarkana, in 1954. He then returned to West Virginia and received a master's degree in History from Marshall. He then taught history at Magnolia High School in Matewan before going to work for the Matewan National Bank in June of 1958 where he rose to President and CEO.

Dan was a high school football official in the Tug Valley area for 18 years. He served in several community organizations in Mingo County, including positions with the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Kiwanis Club of Red Jacket and as a board member of the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Red Jacket Community Church.

He and Joan moved to Lake Kiowa, TX in 1980 where they founded JOMAC New and Used Furniture in Gainesville, TX. He continued to run JOMAC after Joan's death in 2009 and just recently closed the business on July 27, 2015 when he moved from Lake Kiowa and retired to Tallahassee, FL.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan; brother, William Edward, II, and sister, Jane Deaton Bowes, of Matewan, WV.

Services honoring the life of Daniel E. Deaton will be conducted on Saturday morning November 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chambers Funeral Services, Chapel with burial following at the Fairview Cemetery of West Williamson, W.Va.

The family will begin receiving friends on Friday evening, Nov. 27, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc. of Matewan, WV.
