Avery, was a cross breed between a Chow Chow and Blue Tick Coon Hound. He also had a black markings on his tongue. This "Mutt" of a dog was owned by Mark Meyer.

Avery lived a short life. He had gotten infected by a rare form of a mite found in some straw hay my mother had gotten to help him be warm for the colder months ahead. The veterinarian had to go through six layers of his skin to find it. He had suffered bad before he died. This mite was causing him to itch all over his body and broke down his immunity to fight. My mother did everything she could to get him the proper treatments with the veterinarian, with the hopes of him getting better, but Avery was never able to recover.
