Kaycie was a Sheltland Sheepdog, or commonly know as "Sheltie." Kaycie's owner was Angela Meyer.

Kaycie was a stray dog that came on our doorstep on Mother's Day (May 11, 1991). Her actual birthdate and age were unknown to me and my family her whole life.

The following days my mother had put an ad in the Holton Recorder, pertaining to a stray dog found at our residence. After two weeks or so, no one claimed "Kaycie" as their dog.

Kaycie was a very hard dog to train. So my mother got two different puppies, Avery and Cody (both located Find-a-Grave cemetery site), throughout her life to help her understand how to be trained properly.

It was apparent that Kaycie had been beaten or abused by another person, before landing on our doorstep. She was scared of most males, brooms, or other objects around the house that could be used to harm something. Everytime company would come over, she would hide under the bed; instead of barking or jumping all over the place.

After about 6 to 9 months, Kaycie started to bark. Before then, she had not made one sound.

She was a great dog and my family provided her with a loving home. Even though she had endured some type of abuse in her past life, it was probably not that far from her mind. Since, it took many years and patience for me to earn her trust. She was my best friend, when I was a kid. I will never forget the influence she had made in my life.
