Warren DeLaet, 83, longtime Wausaukee resident, passed away peacefully Thursday November 19, 2015 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
He was born in Wagner, Wisconsin on June 10, 1932 and wsa the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Brosel) DeLaet.
Warren married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Edlebeck in 1952.
He served his country in the Air Force and was honorably discharged.
Warren started Warren DeLaet Forest Products in 1957. He was in his element wearing his red felt hat perched on his curly head of hair. Initially he worked for his dad, Albert, who was a sawmill operator and logger from the age of 14 years old up until 1957 and then Warren worked for him for 25 years. Throughout the years Warren built up his business having more than 30 employees. He helped many people get started in the forestry/logging profession.
Most notably, Warren was known for his sense of humor and being a practical jokester.
He was a hard worker all his life and had great work ethic as well as being an avid hunter and fisherman, but the work world stopped during deer season.
He touched so many lives and will be sadly missed by many.
Warren is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; seven children, Michael (Carol), Daniel (Roxanne), Ken (Levone), Sandra (Walter) Landenberger, Mary (Alan) Baxter, Marjorie (Terry) Popp, and Paul (Dawn); 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Charmaine (Marvin) Marquardt, Patricia (Jerry) Marquardt, and Bruce (Carol) DeLaet; and further survived by many extended family, business associates, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Warren "Joe" Jr.; granddaughter, Julia; and a great-grandson Matthew.
Mass of Christian burial will be 12 p.m. noon on Tuesday Nov. 24, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Wausaukee with Father John Hephner officiating.
Visitation is from 8 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 150 of Wausaukee.
