Sweetwater, April 10 - Funeral for J. D. Pepper, 78, prominent Sweetwater rancher, will be held at the Sweetwater Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon beginning at 2:30 with the minister, J. P. Crenshaw, officiating.
Pepper died at his home here Monday morning shortly before noon after a prolonged illness. He moved his family here in 1920 and acquired extensive ranching interests. He was prominent in ranching circles of West Texas for many years.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mmes. Albert Shaw of Christoval, Morris [Bessie May] Hollins of Tennessee, and D. L. Cooper of Los Angeles; and three sons, John and George Pepper of Sweetwater and Claude Pepper of San Antonio.
Burial will be in the Sweetwater Cemetery under direction of Yates Funeral Home.
Officials of Abilene Christian College said last night that faculty members and students would form a group to attend the funeral of J. D. Pepper in Sweetwater. He was a member of the college's board of trustees a number of years and his son, George Pepper, now serves on that body. Vice President Don Morris of A. C. C. characterized the late Mr. Pepper as one of the college's most faithful friends and supporters.
