Jeannette Mary* Linahan age 89 of Manistee, Michigan died Thursday evening, February 26, 2015 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. The oldest of eight children, Jeannette was born on September 4, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Eugene J. and Ellen M. (Gendron) Rassette. Jeannette met [living person redacted, per FAG policy] at the University of Detroit and they were married on January 26, 1948 at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. They have celebrated over 67 years of marriage together. They moved to Manistee from Brighton, Michigan about fifteen years ago. She was a devoted and wonderful wife and mother. Her faith was a very important part of her life and she was deeply committed to extending her faith and values to her children. She was a member of the Catholic Community of Manistee (Saint Joseph Catholic Church). One of her passions in life was the love of theater and acting, having studied Theater and drama in college. She created beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed spending time taking care of them. She also enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her children as they were growing up, oil painting and rug hooking, being a charter member of the West Shore Rug Hooking Guild. As active as she was, she always found time to read and also instilled in her children the value of reading.

Jeannette is survived by her husband [living person redacted, per FAG policy] of Manistee, MI, five daughters and four sons in-law: [living person redacted, per FAG policy], four sons and two daughters in-law: [living person redacted, per FAG policy], seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her sister and brother in-law: [living person redacted, per FAG policy] of Williamston, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Ellen, Ann, Faith and Mary and by her two brothers: Peter and Guy Thomas.

Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend John McCracken celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.

Relatives and friends will pray the Evening Vigil Service at 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.

*Note: Having viewed Jeannette's baptismal record, I can confirm her middle name was Marie rather than Mary, which makes more sense as her youngest sister's first name is Mary.
