Born in New London, New London, Connecticut, to Peter Comstock and Mary Avery. Baptized on 3 June, 1739, at First Church of Christ, New London, New London, Connecticut.
Married about 1761, Sarah Comstock, daughter of James Comstock and Hannah Allen, in Montville, New London, Connecticut.
Thomas and Sarah were cousins.
Father of: Thomas, Hannah, Sabra, Eunice, Jason, Peter, James, Avery and Molly Comstock.
In 1774, Thomas moved to Sunderland, Vermont.
Thomas was in the Vermont Militia in Sunderland, killed on the first day of battle when he received an enemy ball.
He raised a unit of militia volunteers from Sunderland, becoming a Capt. for that day.
"Thomas Comstock emigrated in the Fall of 1774 to Sunderland, Vt. He commanded a company from Sunderland and was killed at the Battle of Bennington, Aug. 16, 1777. He appeared on the battlefield barefooted, and on being asked why, said he would kill the first Hessian and take his shoes. He did so but the shoes were too small. He killed a second Hessian, took his shoes, and was killed on putting them on."
