Charles Elijah Woody, age 96, died Saturday, July 1, 2000 at the West Tennessee Skilled Nursing Center in Jackson. Born in Hardin County on Oct. 3, 1903, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Stanfill Woody. In 1921, he was united in marriage to the former Arnda Alexander, who preceded her husband in death in 1993. Mr. Woody was a carpenter and was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ and the Savannah Masonic Lodge. Services were held Monday, July 3 at 3 p.m. in the Shackelford Chapel with Jim Chamblee officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens. Mr. Woody is survived by five nieces and five nephews.
