Shirley Ann (Blackburn) Dempsey, age 78, passed away on November 13, 2015 after a hard fight with cancer. Shirley married Lawrence Dempsey on March 27, 1959. Shirley is survived by her husband and her four children; Lawrence (Ellen), Barbara (Mark) Callihan, John (Karen) and Janet Matney. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Phyllis (David) Morlan. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three siblings. Shirley graduated from Vinton High School in 1957. Shirley went on to become an LPN and later received her real estate license. After retirement, Shirley became an avid bowler, gardener and loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. Shirley will be missed by all of her family and friends. Friends will be received 10-12 pm Tuesday, November 17 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna where a funeral service will be held 12 pm Tuesday. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Handshake Foundation at 5058 Gredle Drive, Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
