Lucy Jumisko, 95, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away on November 10, 2015.

She was born Lucy Miriam Raunio on December 13, 1919, in Highbridge, WI, the daughter of John and Matilda Raunio. She was raised on a farm, moved to Illinois, and graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1937. She married Harold Jumisko in 1943 and was a longtime Winthrop Harbor resident. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Waukegan.

Lucy enjoyed being outside. She was also at home in the kitchen, whether making spaghetti dinners, fudge, or Easter Bunny and Santa cakes for her family. She enjoyed her word search puzzles, card games, Eddy Arnold records, and Wheel of Fortune. She was proud of her granddaughters and always looked forward to their visits.

She is survived by her two sons, Raymond and Leonard; her three granddaughters, Marci, her husband Mike, and his two sons; Melanie and her husband, Brian; and Meridith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her daughter-in-law Kathy, seven sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m at the funeral home, with Rev. Jeffrey Koth of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waukegan officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 10:00 a.m until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucy Jumisko’s memory to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan.
