"Biographical Souvenir of The State of Texas" article: article from pg. 125 in the Biographical Sketches part of this book- Daniel T. Brunson was born May 22, 1840, in Georgia, and was reared on his father's farm. In June 1861, he enlisted in the Sumter Light Guards, Confederate infantry, and took part in the battles at Norfolk, Seven Pines, the seven days' fight around Richmond, was at Manassas, Antietam, Front Royal, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and both days at Gettysburg. On retreat he came back through Virginia and was at, Williamsport, Rapidan, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Hanover Court House, Cold Harbor, Lynchburg, Salem, Harper's Ferry, Perryville, Fisher's Hill, Mount Jackson, Cedar Run, Petersburg, Farmville and at Appomattox Court House, when Lee surrendered. August 17, 1869, Mr. Brunson married Miss Sarah F. Cheves, daughter of Frank H. Cheves of Georgia. Mr. Cheves was a merchant and justice of the peace; during the late war he lost his right arm, but after the war continued in his vocation of merchant. His death took place in Georgia, October 15, 1878. To the marriage of Mr. Brunson and Miss Cheves were born thirteen children, of whom nine are yet living. In 1876 Mr. Brunson settled in Texas and went into the cattle business, but finally traded his stock for 700 acres of farming land, on which he now resides, and of which he has 140 acres under cultivation. Since 1855 he has been a member of the Missionary Baptish church and has won the respect of all who know him. The father of Daniel T. Brunson was Almorane Brunson, a farmer of Georgia, who married Eliza Woodard, a daughter of Isaac Woodard of South Carolina. To this union were born the following children-Daniel T., Nancy, Mary M., Susanna, Sally, William H. and David W.
