Country Western Song Writer.

Stage name Dusty Rose. Dusty had a recording contract with Fabor Records in 1955. He lived in Oregon in 1948 and was in radio work on station KWRO in Coquille, Oregon. The Maddox brothers liked his song tittled Beautiful Bouquet and they eventully recorded as well. Fabor Robinson also the owner of Abbott Records was the company that released his records tittled The Birds And The Bees, and It Makes Me So Mad. Jeannie C.Riley sang Let's Go All The Way, it was a number one hit. When Dusty was in Roseburg, Oregon he done a daily disc jockey show and showcased a Saturday amateur show with local talents.
He was married twice. He had children by his first wife, one natural and one adopted from his sister, Josephine. Children by second wife Betty. The third woman in his life and they did not marry may come under the heading "common law wife." He lived with her the longest of any of them, and they did not have any children. She left the area of Taney County, MO. and died in New Mexico after 1984.
Dusty lived in Missouri, Oregon, California, New Mexico, and returned to Missouri in his later years to retire. He was always sole searching trying to find that one special, perfect song about a rose.
Dusty was a bit on the onrey side and love to play practical jokes. Never growing up as most little boys are prone to as well. Even in his later years.
You can find him on the internet besides listed here by using a search engine. He name will come up, especially with putting Fabor Records label in the query. Find A Grave, the famous people section, did not allow me to list him under famous people.
Maybe his number one country and western song was the more famous of all. He was trying to decide which song to send in and his mother, especially religious picked the one Let's Go All The Way. She was right it topped the charts to become the number one in the 1960's. Jeannie C. Riley is also probably the more famous as she was the singer of the song. So those in the back ground sometimes do not get the recognition they should.

Dusty Rose Forsyth---Services for Cecil F. Mead, who was a songwriter under the name of Dusty Rose, 59 Forsyth, will be at 2 pm Thursday in Whelchel Chapel, Branson, with the Rev. Asa Edwards officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 pm in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield.
Mr. Mead died Sunday morning in Skaggs Community Hospital, Branson, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
A counrty-western songwriter, he was a member of the Country Music Association, Nashville, Tenn. and Close-Up Magazine. Survivors include his wife Francis; three sons, Forrest, Springfield, Delmar and Theodore, both of Los Angeles, Calif,; two daughters, Mrs. Deanna Skerry, Seymour, and Miss Bonnie Mead, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters Mrs. Joseph Sanchez, Belen, N.M. and Mrs. Florence Davis, Independence; and several grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dusty Roise Memorial Fund.
Here I should re-state Francis Bacca Hicks was not his wife they lived together for about 20 yrs. though. And Joseph Sanchez is incorrect. It should be Josephine Sanchez.

Dusty married three times. He always loved the first one Juanita. She could not tolerate the drinking and he did not stop. They would see each other over the years a few times as a matter of passing. He was a song writer. Did not become famous exactly for his songs. He did have a number one hit on the country charts by Norma Jean Reilly and it was tittled "Let's Go All The Way." The song tittle is suggestive, and it was picked by his mother Jeanetta as the one to send in. To be sure that was a bit odd, his mother was very religious. The chorus did have the words" All the way means happiness living side by side." The jest of the song was to be married to the one you love. A very heavy drinker, he lost all of his wives and children because of that bottle. The last one was not a legally preformed marriage, it was called common law. They lived together. They did not have any children. She started out drinking with him, and she decided to give it up, he would not.

Welchel Funeral Home of Branson, Taney County, Missouri handled the funeral. Mom, Florence Davis paid for the opening/closing of the grave. She bought the lot in the Hazelwood Cem. too. I have the bill.

A copy of his obit and the paper does not have the date on the clipping that mom clipped out.

end of clipping, here I need to make some corrections. He and Francis were not married and her name was Francis Bacca Hicks. It should have been Mrs. Josephine Sanchez not Joseph. Josephine married Medardo (Benny) Sanchez and my mother Florence married Ralph Leroy Burnett Davis.

Dusty must have had a copy of this somewhere as my mother had it and it was an old clipping, it looks like somone has been crying when reading as there is many wet spots on it. Anyway here is what it says:

MY PRAYER by Doris Bradford Wilson
Dear Father, as I greet this day
I pray Thy guidance all the way.
Let Thy radiance round me shine
Till I lose my will in Thine.
Let me face each task with zest,
Glad again Thy power to test.
When the plea for love is more,
Turn me to Thy bounteous store.
There is every right need fulled,
Weary wants of Earth are stilled.
When at night I come to Thee,
I Thy joy your child shall be.
I would guess it has some meaning to him. As all of us tend to hold things like that and they have a special message we must think fullfills our needs. I am sorry to say as I read this I have not any knowledge of what it meant to him or why he kept it. I knew him but not so very well.

His death certificate has Francis on it as wife then crossed out. The line that says if wife fill in maiden name is left blank. She mispelled Murl P. Meads name. She had them spell it Merle, did get his mother Jeannetta

I have a poster, that my mother had of Dusty. It says Country Music Time (his picture) Dusty Rose 3-5 PM Saturdays 6-6:30 AM Mon. thru Friday KTNT Tacoma's One Grand Radio Station 1400 on the dial. 1000 watts 10,000watts-FM 97.3

Found amoung my mothers papers was this letter from Chappell/Intersong Music Group saying to further teh letter to her regarding the referenced estate Cecil F. Mead P/K/A Dusty Rose. Before we can pay any royalties to the heirs of Cecil F. Mead we need certain documentation. Please provide us with a death cert., a copy of the will and proof that the will has been admitted to the court, for example, letters testamentary appointing the Executor of the estates. If there is no will, the court will issue letters of administration appointing an Administor of the estates. Please provide us with these documents if you can so that the royalties being held for Mr. Mead can be paid to the heirs involved. Sincerely, Jessica Tillman, Legal Dept.
My mother was trying to get all taken care of so that his children could get the royalties off any songs he was making and earned. She spent a lot of time trying to locate them. It was not easy, but she finally did. Parents seperated and divorced are not good to each other. Betty refused to let him see or talk with his children. She tried to get him to sign papers so that her husband she married could adopt his and her children. He refused to do so. The children had bitterness as he did not contact them. Not realizing their mother would not allow it. Courts favored women and men just simply gave up in that time span for the children.

I have his original birth certificate, done with black paper and had been embossed with the stamp. It is so fadded and hard to read. The writing by using a magnifying glass made it easier to see.
It is State of MO. Bureau of Vital Statistics. file # 12 22701

I also have old tapes with Dusty singing these songs...sometimes done sadly and other times upbeat. Whatever his mood at the time....and he would record them on tapes, and re-record, and re- record until the stacks of him with the same songs that he wrote, and or sang happens to be many.
