Services for Adelaida Barrios will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove, followed by burial at Kempner Cemetery.
Adelaida Barrios, 81, of Copperas Cove, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
Adelaida was born June 11, 1934 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to the parents of Eustaquio Zargoza and Maria Vazquez-Zargoza. She was raised and educated in San German, Puerto Rico.
Adelaida moved to New York where she met her husband Jose Barrios. Adelaida then trained to become a CNA. She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide at Haym Solomon Nursing Home in Brooklyn, New York and later at Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn, New York until her retirement in 1989.
Adelaida then moved to Copperas Cove in 1995 where she lived near her daughters Rose Torres and Doris Rivas both of Kempner. Adelaida was a dedicated parishioner at Holy Family Catholic where she dedicated time making and donating Rosaries. She also enjoyed gardening and tending ot her beloved dog "Chiquita."
Adelaida was preceded in death by her husband Jose Barrios, and is survived by her sisters and brothers: Diomedes Zargoza, Puerto Rico, Catalina
Zargoza, Michigan, Elena Rosario, Florida, Pedro Zargoza, New York, Ramon Zargoza, New York, her two daughters Rose Torres, Kempner, Doris Rivas, Kempner, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren which she loved all very much.
