[Maiden name and link to spouse were provided by Sarah Locklin Taylor, who also added this note: "It appears the spelling of Towry/Towery possibly changed in TX, but I'm not certain. A 2nd Great Grandson of Jeptha and Elvira married my cousin in TX. All of his family that I know used the spelling with the 'e'. They are buried at Salty Cemetery in Milam County, TX." Mrs. Elvira Towry, aged 80 years, died in Birmingham, Alabama, at the home of her son, Mr. Fent Towry, Thursday, January 2, 1930. She was the widow of Mr. Jeptha Towry, a confederate soldier, and her former friends in this county remember her as a very excellent woman. The remains were brought to her old home for burial at Pleasant Grove, after funeral service conducted by Elds. M. J. Towry and E. A. Fanning.
