Mary Marshall is the daughter of William and Jane (Crawford) Marshall. The family emigrated to the United States from Ireland, arriving in New Orleans on November 27, 1850 and settling near Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois in January 1851. Mary spent the rest of her life in Hancock County, sharing a home with brothers William, John, and Robert and sister Jane.
