Fred and Marie had 3 children before she passed away April 30, 1859. She is buried in the Guttenberg City, Iowa Cemetery (no gravestone).
Fred then took a widow for his 2nd wife, Mrs. Rosetta (Rippe, or Ribbe) Dubbles (pictured above). Rosetta had 7 children from her 1st marriage. Rosetta and Fred married September 9, 1862 in Guttenberg, Iowa. They moved to Richardson County, Nebraska in 1866, settling in Rulo Twp. there, Fred farmed for a while. Later on he got back into the horse harness business. His occupation had been 'saddler' back in Germany. In the 1880's he was running a harness shop in Preston, Nebraska. Fred and Rosetta are buried in a small cemetery in Jefferson Twp., Richardson Co., Nebraska.
Fred's mother, 'Magdalena' is also buried there.
His name was listed on the ship "Howard" Register traveling from Hamburg, Germany to New York docking December 23, 1854.
