NEWTON, N.C. - Peggy “Dathine” Travis Davis, 83, of Newton passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at her residence.

She was born August 24, 1933 in Catawba County to the late Frank and Agnes Vanhorn Travis. Dathine was a member of East First Street Baptist Church in Newton and retired from Kelly’s Village Cleaners. She had a great love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Earl Davis of 48 years; son Timothy Scott Davis; great-granddaughters Cheyanne Davis and Luci Call; brothers Richard Travis, Bill Travis and Charles Travis; and sister Margie Price.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Larry Davis and friend Suzanne of Hickory, Richard “Rick” Davis and wife Cheryl of Wilmington; daughters Donna Wilson and husband Ronnie of Newton, Wanda Martin and husband Carl of Newton; brothers Stewart Travis and wife Wilma of Hickory, Jim Travis and wife Vanessa of Terra Haute, In.; sister-in-laws Mrs. Richard (Linda) Travis of Hickory, Mrs. Charles (Garnie) Travis of Hickory; brother-in-law Cletus Davis Jr. of Hickory; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

A celebration of Dathine’s life will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. at East First Street Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Allen McCoy will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
